Our History

Serving Sylvan Park and West Nashville since 1945

Sylvan Park Church was established in 1945 by four families who lived in the Sylvan Park neighborhood.   One of these families owned a home at 4701 Wyoming, the current location of the church.  These families were united in their belief that it was by God’s leading that the church would exist and endure.  In 2020, the congregation at Sylvan Park Church will celebrate 75 years of having the opportunity to provide our Sylvan Park neighbors a place to come together, to learn, to worship, and to serve the Lord.

Sylvan Park Church has been served by ten different pastors.  It has maintained a close relationship with Welch College that has recently relocated from West End Avenue to Gallatin, Tennessee.  Through the years, Welch students, Sylvan Park Church and local businesses have pulled together to bring to our Sylvan Park community family-friendly events such as outdoor movies, carnivals, vacation bible school, AWANA Clubs and a 10,000 egg Easter Egg hunt this past spring.   Since the late nineties, Sylvan Park has been conducting church services at Green Hills Rehab Center.  Volunteers from the church serve regularly at Second Harvest Food Bank and at the Nashville Rescue Mission.  Many former members are now serving our Lord throughout the United States and around the world.

Our history is one that we pray brings glory and honor to God and has in some way helped others to deepen their relationship with Him.
